Parking Information for Locals and Businesses

What should I know about on-street paid parking?

  • Paid parking is in effect on portions of Main, Pioneer, Chestnut, and Fair Streets from the Saturday prior to Memorial Day through Columbus Day weekend, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • The parking rate is $2 per hour. Parking can be purchased in 15-minute increments for a maximum of 2 hours.
  • Machines accept coins and credit cards (no bills). Change is provided by the Chamber of Commerce on Chestnut St. and in the kiosk at Pioneer Park.
  • Parking purchases made before 9 a.m. will be time stamped to begin at 9 a.m.
  • Receipt from machine must be displayed face up on the driver’s side dash.
  • An additional 2 hours can be purchased by returning to the machine.
  • Handicapped spaces and designated 15-minute spaces are FREE.

How about Doubleday Field?

  • Paid parking is in effect in Doubleday Field Parking lot from the Saturday prior to Memorial Day through Columbus Day weekend, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • The parking rate is $2 per hour or $14 for the whole day.
  • Three machines accept coins and credit cards (no bills) are located in the lot.
  • Parking purchases made before 9 a.m. will be time stamped to begin at 9 a.m.
  • Receipt from machine must be displayed face up on the driver’s side dash.
  • Handicapped spaces and designated timed spaces are FREE.

What about parking permits?

  • A permit allows for day and evening parking in the Fowler Way Lot.
  • A permit also allows for 2 hours of on-street paid parking daily.
  • A permit will allow you to park in Doubleday Field parking lot after 4 PM, daily.
  • Completed permit applications must be accompanied by $25 fee ($15 for additional vehicles at the same address) and submitted or mailed to the Village Offices at 22 Main Street/ P.O. Box 346.
  • Late season permits requested on or after September 1st will receive a reduced rate of $10 per vehicle.

Where can I park all day for free without a permit?

  • Red Trolley Lot between Glen Ave. and Main Street by the Leatherstocking Federal Credit Union
  • Blue Trolley Lot on Linden Ave.
  • Yellow Trolley Lot on Rt. 80 by the Fenimore Art Museum
  • Always read signs for exact rules, but here are some on-street possibilities: Leatherstocking St., Nelson Ave., Pine Blvd., Main St. by the Courthouse, Chestnut St. south of Susquehanna, River St. between Main and Lake, Fair St. and Pioneer St. north of Lake St.
  • Certain county parking lots on Main St. and Chestnut St. on weekends only (check signs)

Anything else?

  • Parking spaces designated as 15-minute spaces are exempt from parking fees.
  • Designated accessible parking spaces, which are reserved for those with appropriate license plates or placards, are also exempt from parking fees.
  • Those who frequent downtown regularly may want to avoid the hassle of always looking for a parking place and consider purchasing a trolley pass for the summer season.  Passes are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, $10 for students under 18, and $35 for families.
