PROCLAMATION
VILLAGE OF COOPERSTOWN

WHEREAS, Barack Obama, President of the United States, is the first
sitting President to visit Cooperstown, New York since Martin Van Buren in
1839, and,

WHEREAS, the President has stated that the purpose of his visit is to talk
about the importance of tourism, of which Cooperstown is an iconic
destination as home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum,
Fenimore Art Museum, The Farmers Museum and beautiful Otsego Lake,
and,

WHEREAS, residents of Cooperstown have been buzzing with excitement
since the visit was announced during the President’s Saturday radio address,

NOW, THEREFORE, it is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of the
Board of Trustees and the citizens of Cooperstown, warmly welcome
President Obama to the Village of Cooperstown.
