New York State Historic Homeowner Tax Credits

If your home is more than 50 years old and located in one of Otsego County’s historic districts in Cherry Valley, Cooperstown, Fly Creek, Gilbertsville, Hartwick, Middlefield, Morris, Oneonta Downtown or Walnut Street, Richfield Springs, Roseboom, Unadilla, Worcester, or South Worcester, you may qualify.
The NYS Historic Homeowner Tax Credit Program will cover 20% of qualified rehabilitation costs of owner-occupied historic houses, up to a credit value of $50,000. Qualifying expenses for the tax credits include roof repairs and replacement, window restoration and storm windows, painting, plumbing, heating systems, electrical upgrades, insulation, foundation repairs, etc.
Over 3,000 buildings in Otsego County are listed on the National or State Register of Historic Places, either individually, or as part of a Historic District. Join us to find out if you are eligible, and how to apply so your repairs and upgrades will be more affordable!
